Throughout his career Azumah Nelson was always looking for ways to help his people in Ghana, and that goal has not changed since his retirement from boxing. In 2008, he set up the Azumah Nelson Foundation, a not for profit organisation in Ghana.
The foundation is aimed at providing social services to the poor and needy through the use of sports and education. Additionally, it will provide vocational training to the disadvantaged in society. According to Azumah, “The project will also serve as a youth leadership training centre to help the youth in Ghana realise the potential that God has given them”.
The foundation has the full support of the Ghanaian government, and together they have initiated steps to construct a sports complex for sporting disciplines such as boxing, volleyball, table tennis, and badminton in various parts of the country as part of efforts to identify and groom talents in those sporting fields, and also to win that elusive Olympic medal.
Part of the proceeds of the book will go to the foundation. We thank you for your purchase and the part you have played in helping the foundation and Azumah.
Should you want more information on the foundation or wish to make a further contribution, please contact the author of “The Professor – The life of Azumah Nelson”, Ashley Morrison, who will be able to assist you further.
